Our story

We are a bunch of Branch Manager’s from Stannah Lift Services Ltd and along with our Service Director and Commercial Manager are cycling from Whitehaven in the West across the country to Tynemouth in the East. Some of the chaps are really keen cyclists and have completed this route many times, others did it for the first-time last year (they must have very short memories!) and we have 1 virgin in our midst who was due to take part last year and had to call off, so he’s now well and truly up for it ! The Coast to Coast or Sea to Sea Cycle Route (C2C) is a 140 miles (230 km) cycle route opened in 1994. Combining sections of National Cycle Route 7, 14, 71 and 72; it runs from Whitehaven on the west coast of Cumbria, and then crosses the Lake District and the Pennines in the north of England by using a variety of both on and off-road trails, ending on the north-east coast in Tynemouth. It is the UK's most popular challenge cycle route, and is designed for the whole range of cyclists, from families to cycling club riders. Although a challenge with some hard climbs—the highest point being over 609 m (1,998 ft) the C2C is completed by an average of between 12,800 and 15,000 cyclists every year We are raising much needed funds again this year for CRUK, last year we managed an incredible sum of £10,145 with Stannah very kindly matching our pledged donations, the hope is we can smash that number this year, and all help is greatly appreciated.
