Daunder In The City

Our story

Sing in the City and Chief Radio were both founded by Kirsty Baird BEM - the former over 11 years ago and the latter just under 2 years ago! Both organisations work together to create a sense of community, a sense of togetherness and a sense of belonging. With tag lines such as #MoreThanAChoir and #WeDontConformToTheNorm, we pride ourselves in doing things just a little differently whilst creating a warm welcoming environment for all. Kirsty currently has 11 choirs throughout central Scotland and the emphasis is is on having fun, improving mental health and being part of a community. Chief Radio was set up to give smaller independent and unsigned artists a platform to have their music heard because the bigger corporations won’t play them for fear of losing listeners. As someone who always fights for the Underdog, Kirsty has always prided herself in the charity work that her businesses have done over the years and so far Sing in the City along with Chief Radio and Hanley and the Baird (Kirsty and Annette’s band) have raised over £147,000 for local Scottish charities. With this in mind we have set up the Daunder in the City charity event - Daunder in the City is a month long event raising money for Cancer Research U.K. where we all set ourselves a personal distance goal. It can be in kms, miles, hours, days or steps and it can be done walking, cycling, running, mountaineering, sailing or anything at all - it’s your own personal challenge and your own personal goal. Not everyone can walk/run 5km but everyone can challenge themselves to do something at their own fitness level and it’s what makes Daunder in the City so inclusive.
