Our story

I’m taking on the challenge to become the youngest woman in the world to ski, solo and unsupported from the coast of Antarctica to the geographical South Pole. This is an immense physical and mental challenge as I will be skiing more than 700 miles of the world’s most unforgiving terrain. To date, only six women and seventeen men have ever completed this route on skis, alone and without resupply. I’m 29-years-old and, if I’m successful, I’ll be the youngest woman by four years. You can help me keep my focus when I am on this incredible journey. I am inviting you to sponsor me to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, a fantastic charity that’s working to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Thanks to the work of Cancer Research UK scientists, more people than ever are surviving cancer. In fact, survival has doubled since the 1970s. My challenge will raise money to support Cancer Research UK’s ambition to accelerate progress and bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Cancer affects almost every family including my own. I very sadly lost three of my grandparents to cancer. Now I’m keen to do everything I can to support vital research to develop better treatments for cancer. I’m particularly interested in the research the charity is doing into cervical cancer. Today 63% of people survive for cervical cancer for ten years or more. But much more needs to be done. Around 3,200 women a year are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the UK and sadly around 870 will die from the disease. I want to raise money for further research into this area so more people survive. Cervical screening has fallen to its lowest level in the last two decades and I also want to raise awareness about the importance of attending screening appointments. Cancer Research UK helped prove the value of cervical screening, which now prevents thousands of deaths every year. Please support me by donating what you can. Visit https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/unite/molliesouthpoletrek to donate what you can, or text MOLLIE10 to 70180 to donate £10. Thank you.
