Our story
The Hillbilly 10k is back for its 12th year. This cross-country challenge kicks off with a 2km stretch along a quiet tarmac road before leading you onto rugged farm tracks and winding woodland trails through the stunning Craigengillan Estate in Dalmellington. Runners are treated to spectacular scenery along the way, making it as much a feast for the eyes as it is a test of endurance. The Hillbilly has become a much-loved fixture in the local running calendar, and with entries usually snapped up within 24 hours, early registration is a must. Once you’ve crossed the finish line, all participants are welcomed with a free buffet to refuel and celebrate, plus a keepsake memento to mark the day. Prizes will also be awarded across several categories, including the coveted titles of 1st Local Male and 1st Local Female. On the day: The event will start at 11:00am on Sunday 22nd February 2026, Registration will be open on the day from 9:00am and will close 20 minutes before competitors start, followed by a race briefing. There will be changing and shower facilities available and also lockers. Get involved: This event isn’t just about running – it’s about giving back. Organised entirely by volunteers at Butterfly Events, every entry fee goes directly to Cancer Research UK. where your support means more than ever.
