Our story

The Fareham Committee of Cancer Research UK have been raising money for the last 70 years. We hold Beetle Drives with afternoon tea, Quizzes with fish & Chips, Literary and Christmas Lunches, theme evenings (Murder Mystery, Burns Night, WW1 Commemoration etc.), some of our Ladies take part in Race for Life. Annually we have a Christmas Tree with lights in Westbury Manor Museum and for a donation you can have the names of a passed loved on a Bauble. In the past we have had a stall at the Portchester Fete and in the last few years we attended the Stubbington Fayre. We have a lovely committee of thirteen members the longest serving member joined in 1979 joining her mother who was an original member of the Committee, seven have been serving for over 20 years the latest joining in April 2023. We meet once a month at the Masonic Hall, Queens Road, Fareham. Our very brave Chairperson Doreen Matthews is abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to celebrate her 80th Birthday, unfortunately Covid arrived therefore delaying this adventure for 2 years. We are always looking for new members to help us carry on this great work.
