Our story
The Business Beats Cancer Bristol Board was established in 2018 and since then has brought together a group of committed and dynamic individuals to help unite the Bristol business community in support of Cancer Research UK. Our fundamental goal is to help fund cancer research in Bristol and, ultimately beat cancer once and for all. COVID-19 put vital cancer research on pause, but thanks to the fundraising efforts and involvement of everyone on the Business Beats Cancer Board in Bristol, they are still making progress to beat all 200 types of cancer. Bristol is home to a paediatric Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, which is a unique partnership between Cancer Research UK and the National Institute for Health Research in England. This connection between these two bodies allows them to bring together lab scientists and cancer doctors to speed up the flow of ideas and new treatments for cancer from the lab to the clinic. Cancer Research UK has recently awarded the biggest ever research grant to scientists in Bristol. The money will help researchers unpick the causes and mechanisms of cancer and why it progresses in some people and not others. Bristol is such an important city in the fight against cancer. To be able to announce this significant research grant is a strong endorsement of Bristol’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence for scientific research. The Business Beats Cancer Board in Bristol is a vital piece of the puzzle in helping to fund research in Bristol and bringing forward the day when all cancers are cured. But we can’t do this alone. We need your support now more than ever, so that together, we will still beat cancer. To save lives tomorrow, we need your help today.
