Our story

Helping Cancer Research UK in their fight against the 'Big C'. Together we WILL beat cancer!! Thanks for taking the time to visit our Cancer Research UK fundraising page. The Bank Old Chums Network Facebook group (and previously NatWest Old Chums) has really taken off - and I wasn't expecting that! I set it up for the sole purpose of putting a friend of mine back in touch with friends that she has lost touch with over the years. She is battling against cancer and thought it would be great for her to rekindle some old friendships. When the group became SO popular I wondered if we could perhaps do some good for others, as well as laughing at the 'Good Old Days' and catching-up with workmates who have travelled around the globe (we really are an international group with members across the world). After checking that it wouldn't offend people by asking for cash - and following the overwhelming support for the idea - I have set up this fundraising donation page in aid of Cancer Research UK 100% of all the donations go to directly to Cancer Research UK (no handling fees, unlike JustGiving who charge a fee). Cancer has touched the lives of so many people. For me I have lost some great friends, my wife is now cancer free, I have at friends fighting it at the moment - and every day there is someone else I hear about who has been diagnosed. I'm setting this up for them - and everyone in the Chums group who has had their lives affected by the evil disease that we know as cancer. Please donate as much as you are able to help the work of this amazing cause. Tell us why you are donating and, if appropriate, for whom. I think that we could raise a tidy sum if people gave the minimum amount (£2)...but could raise a lot more if members were even more generous. The group is not really about giving cash and is there purely for your/our enjoyment. There is no membership fee to be a part of Old Chums.
