Story
Cancer has had and is having a major impact on our family. Our daughter Clare was diagnosed with lymphoma in the last month and she has just undergone her first treatment of chemotherapy. She is finding it particularly hard as she has a severe learning disability and Retts Syndrome. It is fantastic that she has the opportunity of treatment as she is and always has been a fighter determined to carry on and enjoy life to the full, she is very much a party animal and a holiday at Butlins is on her bucket list when she is well enough. Without fundraising, research for new treatments and early diagnosis would not be possible and Clare’s dad might not have been successfully treated for Prostate Cancer eight years ago. A group of colleagues from FACET and their friends and relations are all taking part in Race for Life so as Clare is just starting out on a her cancer journey which she is going to find hard, but with her brilliant support from family and carers we hope she will win, her team will all hopefully achieve their 10k goal, which some will find easier than others and that we will raise a lot of money for cancer research.
