Story
Working in a clinical environment with a dedicated team of Clinicians/Nursing Teams and Admin Staff, we are all too used to the environment which surrounds us. We spend our working days speaking too, treating and helping poorly people and providing every level of support available. But, what happens when your friends/colleagues, all at the same time, become the patient? Within our unit, all within the space of a week or 2, 3 of our colleagues, our friends began their own personal battles with cancer. Surrounding themselves with a strong network of family and friends they left work to begin their fight. Recently, I found myself reflecting on how much they were missed and how much our workplace had changed since they left or spent more time away from work to support their loved one through the most gruelling of surgeries/treatment. In all honesty, there was little we could do to support them. We obviously sent the cards, the flowers, the gifts to let them know that we were thinking of them but could we do more? As I scrolled through my social media that evening, this event popped up! What a perfect opportunity to be able to show support, albeit indirectly. I put the word out across the unit and as a result the "T&O Troopers" was born. Overwhelmingly, the numbers in our team are growing rapidly day by day. By all of us coming together for this event, we are now able to very clearly demonstrate just how much they all mean to us. So don't hold back donate donate donate!! Thank you all in advance.
