Meet the Woowoos – a spirited group of friends and family, united by a common cause: raising money and awareness for cancer research and supporting Young Blake. On May 18, 2024, these energetic souls will take on the challenge of the Pretty Muddy 5k event, transforming a race into a powerful statement of solidarity and hope. The Woowoos have a shared commitment to making a positive impact. Their journey began with the story of Young Blake, a resilient young teenager who faced a femoral sarcoma diagnosis in October 2019. He underwent surgeries to remove the tumor and persevered through the trials of chemotherapy, emerging triumphant in August 2020. On Thursday January 25 2024, the family received the devastating news of Blake's cancer returning. Hope dimmed as they hoped for surgery to remove the tumor, only to learn on Monday that it wasn't an option. Undeterred by the heart-wrenching setback, the Woowoos decided to channel their energy into the Pretty Muddy 5k event, turning it into a platform to raise funds for cancer research and show unwavering support for Young Blake. Blake, described as a lovely, kind, and caring young man, faced the challenges with grace. His dreams of a driving test in March and an 18th birthday in June became rallying points for the Woowoos, motivating them to run not just for a cause but for a person who had so much to look forward to this year.
