Hi i'm Alex and on the 3rd August 2016 our world fell apart and I was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 31! You never really know how strong you are until you are faced with some of the hardest challanges of your life. With the help of my incrediable husband/family and some amazing friends I have some how faced 8 rounds of chemotherapy and got myself a new boob with laughter, tears and straight up stubbornness. I will forever be greatful to all that stood by me through these last 6 months. So with that being said myself and some of those amazing people in my life have decided to do the Shine Walk half marothon to raise money for Ovarian cancer and we are THE WOMBLES. As well as the shine walk Luke one of the Wombles is going to shave his head to help raise money and hopefully donate his hair to a childrens cancer charity so someone can have a fabulous wig. Luke always said if I had to shave my hair then so would he. This comment meant the world to me as I always knew that losing my hair was going to be one of if not the hardest bit to deal with. Even though Ovarian cancer wasn't what effected me I feel more awareness and funding is needed for this cancer. I learnt a lot going through treatment and I find it outrageous that we aren't more aware of the symptoms and we don't have a screening process. So please help The Wombles raise as much money as we can even if you can just give a £1 that will be amazing. Lastly I would like to thank my team of nurses and doctors at Frimley Park Hospital the care and treatment I have received from them has been outstanding. Especially to Ruth my breast care nurse without you my self and Aron wouldn't of coped as well as we did and I don't think hospital would of been half as much fun.
