In January 2019, Rose Gold Warrior was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, the first time being 15 years ago. It was a battle she fought hard and won. It was not a battle she thought she would have to fight again. This time she is a mother, a wife. She is older and a bit more... curvy. She is ready to fight once more. Cancer is a disease that does not discriminate. It doesn’t think “oh I’ve already been to you I’ll try someone else.” It doesn’t think “oh you’ve had some shit in your life, I’ll leave you alone.” It doesn’t think “would you like to be bald on your wedding day?” It is evil, it hides, sometimes until the last minute, and then, if it gets its own way, takes you from your family, your friends and your life. Everyone at some point in their life will be touched by cancer in some form, whether it be themselves, family or friends. This group is made up of Mums who know Rose Gold Warrior through our children, who are touched in some way by ASD. Being the fighters that we have become, who better to support Rose Gold Warrior and help her fight her latest battle - with cancer. Rose Gold Avengers were born. You may be sensing a theme... As part of our support, we will be running Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in July in St Albans. Most will be running 5K, some will be showing off and running 10k, RGW will be walking and then running to the pub. This is not something that the majority of us do, we do not really exercise, we do not run on a regular (annual??) basis, so do not think that entering this Race will be easy for us. Also RGW is making us wear matching t-shirts. Please, please sponsor us for this. Every penny does help, but we would ask that you dig as deep as you can.
