The Martin Family's Race for Life

In loving memory of Paul / Dad / Grandpa Paul who we recently lost to Cancer.

Story

The Martin family are completing this years Race for Life 5k in memory of my Father who we recently lost to Cancer at the age of 67. Dad / Grandpa Paul was a fighter all his life and did not give up fighting right until the end. Dad was an aircraftman in the 38th Squadron of the RAF in his youth and a proud member of the Queens colour squadron. He was a passionate martial artist gaining his 6th Dan black belt in karate and teaching hundreds of students over several decades. He was a loving and caring husband, dad, Grandpa and friend who was taken from us too soon. He fought his illness with bravery and dignity throughout. He was severely weakened by his treatment but would never complain and would always look on the brighter side of things even when it was hard to be optimistic. He was able to come to terms and make peace with the inevitable truth and spent his final days surrounded by his family. It is unfathomable in this day and age that cancer is so prevalent in so many people lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
