Story
Welcome and a huge thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Last year we completed the Macmillan 72 holes in 24 hours Golf marathon, where we raised well over £1000. This year we have decided to up our game and sign up to the London to Brighton trek to try and raise the same amount of money for Cancer Research. We have suffered the loss of close members of our family and friends over the years to this horrible disease and have seen the pain that our loved ones have had to endure. This "challenge" seems pretty insignificant in the whole scheme of things, but we believe we are doing something that just may help in eradicating this disease and reducing the amount of pain and suffering that future families have to face. The challenge last year was pretty tough but only took us 14 hours to complete the 4 rounds of golf. This year is going to be tougher. The route from Richmond to Brighton is 100 km (62.1 miles !) - we believe that this will take us around 20-22 hours factoring in food and comfort breaks! Both Rob and I do walk around the golf course occasionally and I have been know to shop for a good 8 hours, but after our first trial to try out our boots (2 hours) we realised that this challenge is not going to be a simple "walk in the park" (no pun intended!) We are doing this challenge so you don't have to go through the pain of blisters, chafing and other walking related injuries! Instead, all we'd like you to do is open your purse, wallet, online bank accounts and donate a few quid to help us get to the £1000 target. Every penny will be absolutely appreciated. Thank you in advance, Rob & Shelley xx Donating through these pages is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
