Hello everyone! I thought a little back story to why the unfittest bunch of people (minus the superstar kids) have decided to run for a long time (for us) Sometime in July the strongest women in the world, my mum, Thanna Beattie was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma resulting in her having the Whipple procedure in July. Many complications followed this major surgery. Unfortunately no treatment options were available but let me tell you Thanna Beattie is out here continuing to live her best life with one foot in front of the other everyday, she’s an inspiration!! We as one big family have decided to raise as much money and awareness as we can for bile duct cancer warriors! The money raised would mean the world to me personally but also to so many other cholangiocarcinoma fighters, spreading awareness, and funding research is key. I genuinely thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for any donations made and the time taken to read this scroll. So on the 17th of May it’s time to show the ol’ maw that this smokey joe can run a 5K (it’s not that far to most of you guys out there, but it’s a biggie for a couch potato) .
