We're raising as much as we can to beat cancer

Story

After losing another friend - Hazel - to cancer in January, I decided to run the Race for Life in her memory. 1 in 2 of us will get cacer in our lifetime so it's a safe bet that we'll all be affected by it, either personally or a loved one. Stuart and I have lost friends and relatives to this relentless disease over the years. But we also know a LOT of people who have survived cancer or are living with cancer. The improvements in screening, diagnosis and treatment are amazing. I was recently chatting with 2 friends, one of whom had breast cancer about 12 years ago, and the other is going through treatment just now. Even in that short time, the diagnostic process and treatment were quite different - more accurate and less invasive. People may argue that cancer research already receives the lion's share of funding compared with other diseases & conditions, but as it affects - or will affect - all of us, that's perhaps not a bad thing! Stuart and I are very grateful to those of you who have already donated and if anyone else would like to spur us on to the 5k finish line with offers of hard cash, we'd love it!
