Story
This April, we lost our beautiful Grandma, Patricia Ann Healy to cancer. Initially, after her diagnoses, we were told we had 1-5 years left with her. The cancer was merciless and took her away from us in just 10 days. Our Grandma was free-spirited, young-at-heart and so full of life! She kept herself fit and healthy at her dance and Pilates classes. She was the gentlest ball of energy and eager to join in with or know about anything we’d do. She cared, truly and deeply. And she loved and is loved deeply too. It doesn’t seem possible that this positively radiant fairy-on-Earth is gone, just like that. I thought she was invincible... immortal! But cancer stole her from us, way too soon. I know she isn’t the only one. Cancer is stealing too many beautiful people from our lives. Every year, the number of people I know effected by this ruthless disease, increases. That scares me! It doesn’t care who you are or how much kindness you give, or who and what you’ll leave behind. It’s not fair! Floki is my wonderful Cavestie dog. He’ll be walking 5K with us and all his doggy friends to help raise money to fight against cancer. Floki loved my Grandma. She was always gentle and calming, patient and playful with him. He loved visiting her and playing with all the dog toys she’d bought for him, just for when he came visiting. She didn’t even shout at him when he pooped on her mat! My Grandma knew Floki made me happy and for that reason alone, she was always his biggest fan. Cancer is happening right now, which is why we're fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose! Donate today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
