Story
After being diagnosed with stage 3 inflammatory breast cancer and finding a 15cm tumour and a 5cm spread in the lymph nodes, I was given a complete pathological and radiological response to breast cancer in January 2018 thanks to the ROSCO trial, funded by Cancer Research UK. I firmly believe that without the drugs and medical support I have received during this trial, I would not be here today to tell my tale. Each round of systemic treatment I have received from the incredible staff at Nottingham City Hospital has cost on average £3,000 and for one of my drugs, Herceptin, this has involved 17 rounds to date and there will be more to come. I want to raise awareness and give something back in the hope that one day, we will beat this bastard disease for good, and everyone will be able to have the best treatments available regardless of where they live and how much they cost. I have been incredibly fortunate to have a fantastic support network of friends and family and my best friend Mark and I are doing the 10k to give something back for the care and support we have received from the always supportive and positive staff in Oncology at Nottingham City Hospital. #screwyoucancer Cancer is happening right now, which is why we're fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK.
