We know that on the face of it this challenge does not sound very challenging. It’s not a marathon, it’s not throwing yourself out of a plane, and it’s not a sponsored headshave (some of us have little hair to shave!) On the weekend of 5th and 6th September the four of us will be taking part in Cancer Research UKs 72 holes (four rounds of golf) over the course of the two days. All three of us have played golf in some capacity for a number of years. However that doesn’t mean we are any good! One round of golf on a Sunday morning leaves you feeling mentally and physically exhausted, so although we really enjoy golf, this isn’t particularly something I’ll personally be looking forward to doing from an enjoyment perspective. An average round of golf is a walk anywhere between 5-7 miles long, so at the very least, we’re doing a sponsored 20 mile walk (rain or shine!) over the Saturday and Sunday. We will be playing two rounds on the Saturday at one golf course, and two rounds the following day at another course. Both clubs are kindly allowing us to play for free, providing we donate the cost of the rounds towards this fundraiser. Something which we are of course going to do. We believe the best way of sponsoring us is by one of two methods. 1. Donate a sum for us completing the challenge 2. Sponsor us £x amount per person per golf ball lost! We’ll let you decide which might damage your finances the least! Each of us four will in turn donate £2 per golf ball lost throughout the 72 holes. (Keeping our own tallies) Please get involved in this, donating however small a sum as you wish. 1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. This means, pretty much everyone you know will know someone who’s had cancer or will get cancer in the future. Help us to help Cancer Research make a difference Thank you
