Story

Join Solihealth for 10,000 steps a day, that’s 150 miles in 31 days! Get fit and feel amazing as you walk 10,000 steps every day in March to raise money for life-saving cancer research with Solihealth - Sign up to the challenge today. Whether you take on the challenge as a team or as an individual, either way, you will not only get fitter and improve your mental wellbeing, you’ll be joining Solihealth and its 24 GP practices across the Solihull locality to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK. Based on the average person’s stride 10,000 steps is equal to 5 miles, so by the end of March you’ll have walked 150 miles – That’s the distance from Solihull to Brighton beach, the Norfolk Coast or Snowdonia. So why not choose your favourite destination to strive for, track your progress and share updates through our social media and Giving Pages. This is the ultimate challenge that comes with huge health benefits; • Walking can improve fitness - Regular walking can help you maintain a healthy weight, burn calories and help tone muscles. You could take the dog for an extra walk or go for a lunch time walk. • Walking is a COVID-safe activity - Outdoor activities are a safe way to exercise currently. • Reduces stress and is good for our mental health - It’s the perfect way to get rid of daily stress. Plus, the exercise-induced endorphins will leave you feeling better than ever and helps improve your mood. • Walking can help lower blood pressure - Being active can help lower blood pressure and the risk of heart problems in the future. • Discover new places - Explore our local area by foot and discover somewhere new you didn’t even realise was there. • Walk and talk – Ring and catch up with your friends and family, whilst getting in your daily steps, or meet a friend for a socially-distanced walk. Remember to tell them about your challenge to encourage donations! • Increases energy levels - keeping active can actually boost your energy and help you feel less tired. • Improves sleep - Adding more activity to your daily routine can help improve the quality of your sleep, meaning you feel more rested.
