PLEASE READ! You may or may not know, each year Sing and Sign classes across the country try to do our bit for our chosen charity, Cancer Research UK. Jessie hopes to raise lots of money for Cancer Research UK by running her little legs off in ‘Race For Life’ and other events this year! Carry on reading below to find out what we are doing and how you can help. Why Cancer Research UK? Cancer Research UK has been chosen again for the following reason … there is no escaping the fact that our own children as they grow up and their children in the future all face the possibility of cancer in its various forms. Great and ground-breaking strides are being made thanks in part to charities like this in funding the research necessary to ensure cancer has as little effect on their future as can be achieved. This is, to coin a much-used phrase, ‘a worthy cause’ and we at Sing and Sign view it as an investment for our children’s future. The initial trigger for Jessie Cat's involvement with this charity was that she lost a dear little sing and signer, a staunch Sing and Sign fan. Jessie raised over £4K for Cancer Research UK in her memory that first year. Since that time, we have lost even more little Sing and Signers, and many Sing and Sign franchisees and teachers have undergone treatment for cancer, and we are desperately sad to say for some treatment was no longer an option and we lost them too. Many of you have also told me of parents’/relatives’/friends’ battles in the past few years. This charity, I’m sure you’ll agree is a good choice. How will we all be raising money? How can you and your baby help? Jessie Cat herself will be very active again this year in running ‘Race for Life’ at various sites around the UK … you can’t keep that cat in her box, can you! Myself, my team of teachers and our Jessie Cats will all be taking part in the ‘Race for Life Muddy 5k’ in Milton Keynes on Saturday 7th September. With such little legs our Jessie Cats are already training hard! We did this event last year and raised a fabulous £551, so we are hoping we can match or exceed that this year. How can you help?
