We're raising as much as we can to beat cancer

Story

1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime but nothing prepares you for hearing those words from someone you love. The world around you begins to crumble and everything changes in an instant. Just before Christmas 2023 our lovely mum, sister and stepmum was diagnosed with 2 different types of breast cancer, one of which is the most aggressive type of breast cancer, triple negative, which urgently needs more funding to search for new targeted treatments. Gemma has had 2 surgeries and is undergoing 18 grueling weeks of chemotherapy and 4 weeks of radiotherapy, none of which would have been possible without the work of Cancer Research UK. There are many things you feel when you hear someone close to you has cancer but the main feeling is helplessness. Everything is out of your control and you have no choice but to put all your faith in the amazing cancer care team who are helping and caring for your loved one. Raising money towards the fight against cancer was something we could control and will hopefully give a massive belly laugh to Gemma (and everyone else) whilst we drag ourselves around a 5k muddy assault course. Team Simply the Breast (Vikki, Olivia,Holly,Alex,Liam,Mia,Elliot and Mia) are joining forces to raise as much as possible to help continue the amazing work of Cancer Reseach UK.
