My Dad was a fitness fanatic, he loved going to the gym, reading his muscle mags, always aiming to get his ‘body like a temple’! He always looked after himself & had such zest for life. Dad was the life & soul of the party -a great sense of humour; his laugh was infectious and he had the best smile! He loved his family more than anything, as we loved him and he would do anything for anyone. Dad was the kindest, most loving, genuine, funny, amazing person you could ever wish to meet. We had the perfect family life with the perfect Dad. However, our world came crashing down last January, when Dad was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme -a Grade 4 Brain Tumour. Terminal Cancer. Dad fought with bravery, courage and such strength. He never once complained, he never once felt sorry for himself & he never once failed to make those around him laugh. He underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy like a true warrior, and survived many horrendous seizures and hospital admissions, never once losing that beautiful smile. Dad never gave up. Time & time again he defied the odds. But though his heart and soul were as strong as ever, his body grew too tired and we said goodbye to our hero last October. My friends & I will be taking part in the 10K Pretty Muddy this June. We run (& likely fall!) in memory of my wonderful Dad, & all those we have lost to this horrendous disease. But, we also run for all those amazing people who continue their courageous battle with Cancer, for all those caring for their loved ones affected, for all those that are unable to race for themselves and to all those that have survived their Cancer fight. Any donation -big or small, can go a long way towards helping fund research into treatments and services to help rid this World of a disease that has affected so many of us, and taken such amazing people, like my Dad, far too soon.
