When cancer comes suddenly and unexpectedly knocking at your door, it takes your breath away. Our family has had the door knocked twice. Granny Cathcart was the root of this family, all wisdom and understanding came from her. To sit and watch her fight everyday was inspiring. She never gave up as she wanted to live. Around the same time Granny’s daughter (Aunt Fiona) too was diagnosed, bringing more shock and anxiousness. It was even more challenging as Fiona lives in Australia. Both their treatments were aggressive and made them very weak for a longtime. The hair loss, weight loss, the fatigue, the hallucinations and reduction in quality of life were hard to see. Granny left us a year ago and the whole in our hearts will never be replaced as we all miss her every day. We are so thankful to our Heavenly Father that Fiona is still with us, fighting this awful disease and with determination and the right treatment we pray she will beat this cancer. So this why us girls are going to push ourselves into an obstacle course covered in mud and probably have a lot of pain at the end of 5k. Because if they can face cancer then we can easily face mud and a run.
