Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why i am putting together a group to take part in the Race for Life 5k Pretty Muddy in Stamford on 30th May 2020. As a group we want to raise money to help save lives. Some family, friends and my work team will be joining me on the muddy obstacle course - I have promised them that we will have fun and come away with a dirty glow from doing something worthwhile :-) So why now? Cancer caught up with me last year in the form of a breast lump. I was a lucky lady finding it early. I will always be especially thankful to my lovely school bestie (Jayne) who shared a picture on facebook of how women should check their breasts. Fortunately for me, when getting the diagnosis, I was told it was the best cancer you could get and the care and treatment that followed was so slick - resulting in me getting the all clear within a few months. The support from my family and friends kept my spirits up throughout. Anyway, it's a year since I was diagnosed and the thought of others who may have to go through cancer now or in the future (many with a much tougher journey than I had) made me want to help towards advances in beating this disease. We are told that 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime - that's a very scary statistic isn't it? If you would like to support me and my group by taking part or sponsoring us, that would be fantastic :-) Every donation will make a difference to the groundbreaking work of Cancer Research UK Rach xx
