Story
I think it's fair to say that most of us know of someone who has had to face the daunting diagnosis of Cancer, it may even be you! As some of you are aware, my husband Mark was diagnosed with prostrate cancer last Summer - luckily he is currently under close surveillance and has not had to face any of the difficult decisions about treatment yet. In the last year or so some of my close friends have been faced with Cancer and indeed some of my Pilates students within our own community have had and are currently still going through their own battle with this terrible disease or have been supporting a close family member with their treatment. One of my lovely Pilates students, Jude Capper, who has attended my classes for the last 2 years has already survived breast cancer once, is now cruelly facing yet another battle against it. Her Mum, Helen, also attends my classes - both are an integral part of our Pilates group. Jude is one of the most inspirational, positive, amazing people I have ever had the pleasure to meet and has been totally focused on getting her body fighting fit before facing a double mastectomy and reconstructions this January - if anyone is going to beat it again, it's her! I am so inspired by her that I have recently completed a course to become a 'Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Rehab' Pilates Instructor and hope to take my exam shortly so that I can help her and others in her position. Jude and I are keen to sign up to take part in the Newbury 5km 'Race for Life' at 11am on 30th June 2019 and have extended an invite to all of my Pilates students to join in the hope that we can get a group of women to come together together to have fun, whether it be walking, jogging, running or a mixture of all three and celebrate the lives of all of those people who are currently undergoing treatment or have survived, and of course in memory of those who have sadly lost their battle.
