Story
This team donation page was setup in the memory of Katy Butt who was a vibrant young woman living near Fleet in Hampshire. In August 2020 Katy was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer at the age of 47. Her journey was marked by strength, determination, and unwavering love for her family & friends. The diagnosis was devastating and despite the challenges, Katy faced treatment head-on. Chemotherapy was punishing, affecting her in ways she had not anticipated. Yet, she persevered, even as she struggled to fight the disease inside her. Katy’s resilience extended beyond her own fight. She continued to be a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, whose courage and determination inspired those around her, to live life to the full, and became a beacon of hope. Tragically, on 19th June 2024, Katy lost her battle with cancer. However, her legacy lives on as testament to strength, love, and the importance of early detection. Her story reminds us that even in the face of adversity, we can find moments of grace and courage. Cancer is happening right now, which is why as a team we’re taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work. Katy’s journey alone underscores the urgency of raising awareness about bowel cancer symptoms, and the need for early screening. Let her story inspire you & others to take action and support Cancer Research’s efforts.
