Story
Our Story In May 2013 our family got the worse news any family would’ve wanted to hear, our dad had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, he told us that everything would be ok and it was controlled, little did we know that at every appointment dad attended he was told he was dying, he always stayed positive and told everyone he was doing great including us, he continued life as normal, enjoying his drives with his wife who he cared for, taking his dogs for walks every night at Ormeau Park, cutting his grass, and just living life to the fullest as much as he could do, and little did we know he was holding this heavy burden inside him. On the 2nd of November dad went downhill dramatically and me and my sister stepped in to help with him and mum, we were getting concerned as this was not like our dad, we had doctors out every week but still had no clue dad was dying. On the 6th December our family was told the cancer had hit the liver and dad only had around 5/6 months left, obviously this was devastating for us, over the next few days dad got weaker and he was then admitted to hospital on the 10th December as he needed oxygen, the next day Monday 11th our family was then told dad had a few days and sadly we lost our hero 5 days later on December 16th. For anyone that knew our dad, knew he was the most positive, caring, happiest man alive and he loved and protected his family so much, so me and my sister are doing this race in honour of dad, our hero always and forever xxx
