We're raising as much as we can to beat cancer

Story

Cancer is happening right now, which is why we're fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. In June, team ''My Mortgage Wizards'' will be taking on the ''60 Miles in June challenge'' in honour of our incredible colleague and friend, Kirsty Challinor-Bray, who is currently battling advanced Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Kirsty is our fierce cancer warrior. She faces every challenge with strength, determination and courage, and whilst at times we feel a little helpless in physically supporting her through this journey, we wanted to come together as a team and do something positive in the fight against cancer. As a team normally found behind desks making mortgage magic happen, we have decided to swap our office chairs for walking shoes and each complete 60 miles throughout June to raise valuable funds and awareness for Cancer Research. Every single day in our industry we talk to clients about protecting their homes and families. When arranging mortgages, we always recommend protection policies to help ensure that if the worst happens, the family home remains secure. Yet so often we hear the words, “I’m healthy, I can’t see that happening to me.” The reality is that illness does not discriminate, and sadly life can change in an instant. In fact, the best time to protect yourself is whilst you are healthy, because as we get older and our health changes, obtaining cover can become far more difficult. This challenge is deeply personal to us. It is about supporting Kirsty, raising awareness, encouraging important conversations, and standing together against cancer. Throughout June we will be sharing updates from the team, our progress, our walks and probably a few blisters along the way too!
