We are a group of PhD students from the University of Exeter who are involved in research that aims to better understand how the human body is affected by disease, how we can make diagnosis easier and how we can improve treatments. More importantly, we are lucky enough to be surrounded by the ground-breaking research funded by events like these, through Cancer Research UK grants. Meet our team below, as we give our personal reasons for taking part: Anna I am running in memory of my loving grandpa whom we lost a year and a half ago. A day doesn’t go by when he is not missed. Let the race for life begin! Michelle I’ve seen cancer destroy the lives of too many families I’m close to, especially during the past year. Whether it be through my own research , or running 5k through the mud, I want to do all that I can to fight this terrible disease before it takes too many more innocent lives. Laura For those who know me, you’re probably shocked by my name being in the same sentence as “run”, and will be donating just to see me go through this muddy race torture! Most of us, including my family, know someone who’s been affected by cancer and so fundraising for Cancer Research is a brilliant way for us to fight back! Beth I’ll be running in memory of my friend Becky, who passed away from a brain tumour four year ago. From family holidays to New Years Eve parties, I have so many fond memories growing up with Becky. After this run, I’ll be raising a vodka-coke for you Becky! Fay I'll be running for a friend who is still fighting. Skye I love running and mud, so whats a better excuse to put the two together than doing it for Cancer Research UK?!
