Story
Hi all, We are all doing the pretty muddy 5km run in memory of my dad - Mike. My dad was the best, he had a great sense of humour and would do anything for anyone! He was my best friend! Early 2018, my dad starting getting pains under his ribs and was unable to sleep at night with the pain. At first the doctors thought he had kidney stones. He had scans after scans which did not pick anything up. In July 2018, after a CT scan and endoscopy the consultant took us into a room and said it was bad news, he was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. The consultant then said there’s more bad news, it had spread to his liver. We asked the obvious question, how long does he have. The consultant said we talk in months rather than years. We were sever stated. My dad fought so hard, he never gave up. He had 7 months of chemotherapy, but unfortunately on 2nd February 2019 he lost his fight and passed away! You never think it will happen to you or your loved ones. We miss him everyday and it doesn’t get any easier! Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.
