Story
Staff at the Martin High School are taking part in the Leicester Race For Life in memory of Marcus Richmond, a year 7 learner who sadly lost his fight with cancer in May this year. Marcus was the bravest, most kind-hearted and enthusiastic boy and Marcus will always be a part of our school community. We feel privileged to have known Marcus. Despite pain and uncertainty, Marcus was full of hope and excitement of all life has to offer. His family; Johanna, Glenn and sister Elise bravely fought the battle alongside him making so many dreams come true for Marcus. Marcus was first diagnosed with osteosarcoma (a rare bone cancer) when he went for an x-ray following a fall in August 2016 whilst playing cricket. Doctors spotted the bone cancer in his arm and lungs and he started chemotherapy immediately. Unfortunately, despite two courses of chemotherapy and the amputation of his right arm and shoulder, Marcus passed away on 23rd May 2018, at home surrounded by his family. Support us in remembering Marcus and in raising money for Cancer Research, your donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.
