Story
We are doing the Race for Life! Anyone who knows us will know Chloe is the sporty one but this is a team effort! We want to raise as much money as we can to future-proof cancer research and for a very good reason. Josh, Amy and Chloe’s brother, was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, increasing his chances of developing this life changing disease. He is currently 16 and may have been living with this illness for years already. Research suggests that you are more likely to get bowel cancer if you have Crohn's disease. The risk starts off low but will increase the longer you have the condition. It’s said that after 10 years the risk is about 1 in 50, after 20 years the risk is about 1 in 10 and after 30 years the risk is about 1 in 5. Crohn’s is a lifelong disease so it is a really frightening possibility that he will develop cancer and we want to ensure the right treatments are available thanks to your donations. Just in case. Cancer is happening right now, destroying lives that need to be lived and 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime. We hope that doing this will help our mental wellbeing and encourage us to do more races in the future to give back to people who do so much. The work that cancer research UK do on a daily basis and all the people who donate their time to help deserve the utmost respect. Let’s beat cancer sooner. Every single penny you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please give what you can.
