Story
We are both running the Great North Run on 9th September 2018 (though we aren't running together or Lizzie might have collapsed by about mile 2!). Everyone knows someone affected by cancer, and we are no exception. We are running in memory of Andy's Grandad Les who sadly passed away a couple of years ago after a short but brave battle. Lizzie's best friend Rachel also lost her wonderful and inspiring mum, Maddie, last year. We will be remembering these special people and hope that the money we raise will be a small tribute to their lasting memory. Lizzie is also running as a way to thank her amazing running coach Clive Barley, as without him she wouldn't be running 5K, let alone a half marathon. Clive is a huge supporter of cancer research and Lizzie hopes whatever money we can raise will honour the huge amount Clive does for both encouraging people to run and for Cancer Research. Thank you Clive, and thank you to all the Lytham Park View Friendly Runners for wonderful company, you will be greatly missed. Those who know us well will appreciate that running a half marathon isn't something we are particularly cut out for! It's an effort to go out to train, but an effort that is good for us physically and mentally, and will be worth it a million times over if we manage to raise a good amount of money for the amazing charity that is Cancer Research.
