Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why we're taking part in Race for Life again this year to raise money and save lives. Cancer caught us all off guard in August 2024 when Amanda was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Fortunately, it was caught early and Amanda beat Cancer and has now been cancer free for over a year. Then after completing Race For Life in July 2025 and saying Goodbye to Amanda’s Lefty, we were devastated in August to find that Mum/Grannie (Dorothy) was then diagnosed with Breast Cancer as well! After being prompted to go for a mammogram by friends (over 70 don’t have them anymore as routine!) a lump was found, again in the left breast. As a family, we got lucky and it was caught early again and we’re thrilled to say Mum/Grannie has just recently been (January 2026) told she needs no further treatment after having a mastectomy. Cancer Research plays a vital role in the early detection of cancer and without their hard work, along with the support of the medical staff at The Treatment Centre at Kettering General Hospital, our family story might have been very different. We really do appreciate just how lucky we are as a family and are coming together again this year to remember those less fortunate, as well as saying Goodbye to Lefty; Take II. In 2025, our Race for Life team raised £1334 and we would love to smash this figure in 2026 and help raise as much as possible in the fight against cancer. Thank you for supporting Lefty’s Goodbye Party: Take II Dorothy & Les (supporting us from the sidelines) Amanda, Abigail, Caleb Suzanne, Thomas, Elizabeth David, Karolina, Daniel
