Story
I felt a lump, courtesy of being an avid sunbather and regularly rubbing factor 30 on... I thought it might have been just another cyst but with my granny and great aunt, and my mums cousin all having breats cancer - yet I had no aunts or sisters, I was aware I could be at risk. So off it trotted to have it checked out. Fist a referral to Mr Graham, armed with a needle to aspirated, also no fluid. Off to Mr Thmson at Harbour Hospital for mamogram and Ultra sound, quickly followed without warning by a 5 core biopsy. A week later the confirmation of Mr Thomson's suspicion. CANCER, 19mm invasive ductal, ER/PR negative. Treatment plan with Mr Graja starting with a lumectaby, removing 60g of breast tissue inc 1cm all round to be safe, some clever reconstruction to smooth out the dent and then 15 sessions of radio therapy over 3 weeks to start 6 weeks after op. So my journey starts, I assume it's just an inconvenience! But back of my mind I am worried I am over simplifying and it's going to be one he'll of a ride. But fingers crossed my naivete will rule. So October 10k run I'll barely have finished radiotherapy, so who knows if I'll make it round. But I can't leave my kids without out a mum. So for them I'll be doing this.
