Last October we received devastating news that our lovely Doris was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, so rare that only a thousand women a year are diagnosed with this particular cancer. Doris has always been reasonably fit and healthy for an 86 year old & no one ever thought she would get cancer. We sadly lost Dad/grandad aged 60 to bowel cancer, so you can only imagine what our thoughts were when we received the news. Doris underwent 3 months of intense radiotherapy with daily trips to the hospital & multiple other appointments on top. Throughout the treatment Doris was truly amazing, she hardly ever complained & no matter how she was feeling Doris always ensured her hair & make up was done along with matching earrings & a scarf around her neck as always. Cancer is a cruel disease & watching someone you love go through this is absolutely heart breaking, the treatment is tough with many ups & downs. We would love to give a massive thank you to Kent and Canterbury Oncology Center who have been amazing, Doris’s Oncologist Dr Nathan who always treated Doris with the upmost respect, truly a man of honour. We have now been given the wonderful news that the cancer has gone, Doris you kicked cancers butt! We now feel like it’s time to give something back & go through a bit of pain of ourselves! Without Doris our family would not be complete, a loving mum, nan & great Nanna.
