In two weeks time we'll be participating in Race For Life 5K for cancer research! Everyone knows someone who has had or been affected by cancer. For us, our Dad was diagnosed with liver cancer but after a transplant, he is still here. James’s Dad is currently on a clinical trial which has proven more effective than chemotherapy would have ever been. Other members of our family and friends have suffered with cancer but thanks to the likes of cancer research UK and the treatments they’ve helped developed they’re still here and many are now cancer free. Unfortunately not everybody has been so lucky we've lost our Grandad and Auntie to cancer. With the help of organisations such as Cancer Research UK and there sponsorship of clinical trials and tireless research the prognosis those with cancer improves year on year. Hopefully with our continued support more people will get longer with loved ones with the ultimate aim of finding a cure. Amy: Anybody who knows me knows how much I hate exercise. I’ve been training to run with little success, I can cover the distance but it’s more walking with the occasional jog. My body has turned against me, my shins hurt daily and haven’t been the same since April when I started training but I will be doing this because this is for a good cause (and the fry up I will have at the end of it). If I can manage a very slow personal best time that’s a bonus. Katy: I’ve never ran anything before (unless it is a quick run to try to get a good spec at a concert or I hear someone mention there is cake in close proximity...). I have been trying to work my way up to running 5K and I’m not quite there yet but hopefully in 2 weeks time I will be, if not I will be giving it a damn good go! James: I never thought I would have the ability or conviction to do something like this but I'm looking forward to it more and more as each day passes. Any support my friends and family could offer us would be very much appreciated, even if it’s just 50p we would be so grateful!
