Abbie: I’m running for the beautiful, courageous women who are with me and who have been affected by this horrendous disease, and for all the future generations who I hope live in a world without cancer. For my Gembob. Whose strength amazes me. The most wonderful friend, mother, wife, daughter, sister - I don’t know what I would do without her. For Lottie and her Grandpa, Ron. He was her sunshine and adored her for being the incredible force of nature she is - just as I do. For Jacqui and her Dad, Fred. I wish he was here to walk her down the aisle next month and I wish I could see how proud of her he would be. Jacqui: I’m running for my dad Fred. He was the healthiest, sportiest man you could have ever hoped to meet, but cancer doesn’t care about that. My dad loved sport and by running in his honour I feel that I’m taking his spirit of fun and always overcoming adversity along with me. He loved the phrase “it’s only pain”, so I will try to remember that when the going gets tough! He was a wonderful man and I’m proud to run in his name. Bethan: I’m running for everyone who has been affected by cancer; from the individuals themselves to their friends and families. Having researched treatment for prostate cancer, I know how important funding is to test potential drugs that can save lives. These treatments take time and money, but give so much hope to everyone affected; and with continued research, we will be able to beat cancer. That is something I am confident about and will passionately support, always.
