Story
This started as a loose idea to walk “Coast to Coast for Cancer Research”, but has grown exponentially into this mad timetable of hikes and challenges with the aim to raise money, but also to bring people together to celebrate and talk and remember. So… we are walking the Coast-to-Coast path and more for Cancer Research UK because so many of our family and friends have been affected by this disease. We are walking because we have the opportunity to - and we have seen so many people from whom that opportunity is taken. Their stories are proof that we need to do what we want to do now. Don't wait for the right time, or put a single thing off. If you have always fancied a long-distance path, let us know - walk with us, for some or all of the coast-to-coast route or any of our other planned challenges, or suggest another for us to tackle together. Let's walk all over cancer. Let's raise awareness, and funds. You can join this team and do your own fundraising through this platform, and you can choose your cause within the Cancer Research UK Giving system - from a specific type of cancer to a specific area of research such as prevention, treatment development, or childhood cancers. 1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime. Breast, prostate, lung and bowel cancers together accounted for over half (53%) of all new cancer cases in the UK in 2016-2018 and for almost half (45%) of all cancer deaths in the UK in 2017-2019.
