We're raising as much as we can to beat cancer

Story

Our beautiful wife and mother Bev was diagnosed with terminal Small cell lung cancer in August 2017, we were all devastated. As a family we took the information in and focused on positivity and keeping mum as strong as she possibly could be throughout her treatment. We laughed as much as cried. Embracing every moment together with a smile or giggle where possible. Mum went through so much throughout her treatment but faced it all with a beautiful cheeky smile and a stubborn determination. She was going to fight as hard as she could. And my god she did just that. January 2018 we were told the chemotherapy was unsuccessful. Mum took the information in and then continued to remain positive and strong and keep fighting. She was so determined to get out and walk each day she could. She wanted to help others who may find themselves in her situation so decided to do the race for life. She had an infection leading up to race but on the morning of the race she woke up and said "It's race day" with a big smile ready to walk the 5k around Oxford. It was one of the hottest days of the year mum was on constant oxygen and we had the wheelchair ready. She would not let the wheelchair near her and with that steely determination mum managed to walk the whole 5k no resting, no wheel chair and even had a little dance on the way round. She was amazing. After the race mum struggled more and more to get up and go for those walks she loved and sadly she passed away on the 21st of September 2018. We are absolutely lost without her. But so proud of the example she set to us of how to deal with this cruel and vile disease and how to embrace every second of life regardless of what you are going through. The type of cancer that mum had is extremely aggressive and notoriously difficult to treat with very limited options. We are doing the race for life 2019 in memory of mum.
Mum would be so proud of the total that has been raised so far.🦋 Thank you
