Story
Cancer is a truly horrible disease and affects numerous people and their families every year. This year marks the 5th year anniversary since I was diagnosed with cancer. I will be walking the Shine Walk London Half Marathon, along with my younger son Arran, because I am one of the lucky ones, a survivor. I want to give something back in recognition of the excellent care and support that I received and I feel that fundraising for continuing research into the many different cancers is the best way to do that. Arran and I will also be walking the 13.1 miles in memory of my dear Dad (& Arran's Grandad) who fought so hard, but sadly lost his fight to bowel cancer in 2010. We are also doing this because a very dear friend of our family has been, and still is, receiving brain cancer treatment during the ongoing pandemic. Each year CRUK scientists get closer to beating cancer and they've helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. Every single pound donated makes a difference to their groundbreaking work.
