Story
Hello :) thankyou for taking the time to read our story and our motivation for doing the Race for Life in June. Our family like many others have fallen victim to the devastating effects that cancer has on peoples lives and knows all too well the pain this causes to those with the disease and the people around them. My Mum lost her battle with Cancer aged just 47 with so much more to give, she tragically left behind a loving husband, three children and grandchildren. She fought the disease on and off for over 20 years and she never lost faith in finding a cure. We as a family saw the monumental evolution in the treatments available over those 20 years and the revolutionary new ways of beating this evil disease. Unfortunately no treatment would of prevented the inevitable for my beautiful Mum as her cancer was secondary and therefore incurable. The amazing researchers that develop the treatments couldn't do what they have done without the donations millions of people work so hard to get for Cancer research...every pound really does help! We also lost both our Grandads to this horrific disease in years previous to my Mum and both our Grandads like Mum had so much more life to give and so many people to live for! All three of them are so sadly missed and nothing will ever fill the gaps that cancer has created in our families. My daughter Rosie aged 11 is running the race for life not only for her Nanny and her Great Grandads but also for her school friend Lucy who has been tragically diagnosed with Leukaemia recently. Lucy is also 11 years old and this has been a devastating blow for her and her lovely family. Lucy like Rosie should be at home worrying about her upcoming SATs but is in hospital worrying about Chemotherapy and Operations, this feels so unfair and so unjust and makes you question how this is still happening to families across the World it's just so cruel! Together with your kind donations we can and we will defeat this disease. Every single day the outstanding researchers are discovering groundbreaking new techniques and treatments and i can vouch for this as we have seen the progression first hand! Any donation big or small goes a long long way and will save millions of others going through what we have and what Lucy and her family are going through right now. Please donate and support us to do this race :) Love to you all Emma and Rosie xxx Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.
