We are three university students and in October we will be completing the 10k race for life and raising money for cancer research. We are aware that cancer is something that has affected everyone's life in one way or another. Eleanor: Cancer was always something that happened to other people and never did I think it would affect my family way it has. Last March I lost my grandad to cancer, following this my other grandad was given a terminal diagnosis. At the beginning of 2021, despite my family already being majorly affected by this disease, my dad also got diagnosed with cancer and after surgery will begin treatment. Verity: Both my grandads have been diagnosed with cancer in the past. Luckily, with the help of cancer research, they both were able to have successful operations to remove their cancer. However, without cancer research things could have been very different.
