Story
Back in March my parents were sent a Bowel Screening Kit each. Having no symptoms of Bowel problems they thought it strange but decided they would do the test anyway to be on the safe side. The tests came back, Mums was fine, Dad's had abnormalities and to go for further testing. The letter said not to worry this happens to 1 in 9 and chances of cancer were low. In April my dad went for the further tests and on the same day we found out he has a tumour which resulted in being Rectal Cancer. An MRI followed in the coming days and after a horrible week of waiting we found out the cancer had spread to his prostate. How your life can change so much in a week. We are the lucky ones those, even though these outcomes seem bad and the scary C word is thrown about we are told after a long journey that my dad will survive this and the prognosis is curable :D My dad has spent the summer going back and forth to Oncology having Radiotherapy and dosed up and lots of Chemo Tablets. An op is to come soon and then Intravenous Chemo :( our journey is still long but my dad is a fighter and we are with him 100% of the way. To summarise if Cancer Research didn't have enough funding these tests that they send wouldn't have been sent to my Dad and the scary thought that in a years time this could have spread and be deadly. This kit has literally saved his life. I would love so much to raise thousands for them, so they can carry on saving many many more peoples lives. Myself, Ryder, Mum, Kayla and Maddy are running the race for life in October. We have set up this page so we can collectively raise money for this charity. Any donation is greatly received, Thank you so much
