We're raising as much as we can to beat cancer

Story

This was kind of tough … In October 1999 my Grandad John lost his battle to bowel cancer. He was the head of the collacott family, he was strong, determined, caring & a massive role model. He left a gap in our family that has never to this day been filled. I was young when he passed but from the stories I’ve heard he was a huge character that loved his whole family and we all miss him so much. We imagine daily what life would be like if he didn’t get this awful disease. I wish I could of had many more years of sharing his tinned boil sweets, wearing his glasses & pretending to be blind because they were so strong & sitting in his chair admiring his alcohol filled globe. Today we will be raising money for one hell of a man!. John Collacott. Now I have to remember you for longer than I’ve known you. On 24.01.2022 after the most courageous battle with cancer that spread so rapidly to many organs My hero, the most amazing man in my life lost his fight to this awful disease. He was their from the beginning of my life & I was there right up until the last seconds of his. He smiled, he laughed, he joked & he loved right up until the end even with the excruciating pain he was in daily. He spent the last few months giving away everything so he new that he’d leave us with something of him. The day the cancer took over was the worst day of my life. I lost my best friend! We had spent days & days during his illness talking rubbish holding hands & sharing ice lollies & now I have nothing but the memories. I will do this 5K with you in my head the whole way because I would do anything that take this disease away from other families!! Last but not least, this 5K mud run I will be doing I will be doing it to raise money but also in awe of my auntie Sharon., a woman who has been like a second mum to me for a long time, the strongest woman I’ve ever met who is fighting her own battle & one she is fighting like an utter trooper.. if any of this money I raise can go to someone I hope it goes to treatment that can help people like her.. My heart is empty at times but it is also filled with some hope & that hope is that some of this money can help families get that cure we’ve been wanting for so so long.
