Story
As priests we have supported many people through their cancer journey and been alongside the families facing this illness and coping with the loss of people they love. It has also affected us as a couple with Linda being treated for thyroid cancer and losing her sister, Susan, last year after a very aggressive illness. I also lost a very special friend, Chris, in 2023 with a very similar illness to Susan's. Cancer has also come close to us through losing other family members and close friends who have died far too young. Race for Life in Sheffield is on the anniversary of Susan's death and it is also her Mum's 90th birthday. The Race will be a special time of remembering, but also a day of celebration as June's family gather to affirm the love that is shared among all the generations with even her first great, great grandchild coming to a celebratory meal. Cancer may take so much from us, but it can't take hope and love and through supporting Crooked Runners (the name of our cottage) you will be helping to fund research that can make a real difference to outcomes in the future for anyone diagnosed with this terrible illness and so give hope to their families. Anything you can give will help. Thank you Mike and Linda x
