Cancer is happening right now, which is why we are taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. Cancer has affected or is affecting our lives in such a heartbreaking way. We have lost and are losing loved ones before their time! We have lost a mum of 39, who has left behind two children. Such a wonderful, beautiful lady who loved life and her children dearly. A lady who sadly died within weeks of diagnosis at such a young age.We have lost a much loved nanan who is missed every single day by her large family. Who against the odds lived the best best life she could for three years with no treatment, until she couldn't fight no longer. She unfortunately never met her unborn great grandson. We have lost a best friend also in her 30s who loved the world. A very brave and inspirational lady to all that knew her, especially to her 16 year old daughter at the time. We have watched a sister who should be enjoying her teenage years endure aggressive treatment and loose her hair. Who may not have children of her own, and will every day pray that she stays in remission. An amazing mother in law who fought and won her battle, we pray that she stays in remission.A grandad who fought the cancer and won, but paid the price. Now relies on oxygen to breathe and can't go out without a wheelchair. Even so, he's still the joker he always was. A great grandma who suffered terribly with the illness, died alone in hospital 3 months after her first great grandchild was born. She never got to know her great grandmother and has to rely on stories of her love for her family and the generous lady she was, to gain a little insight into what she was like. And if that isn't enough, we are now watching a lovely grandad and dad loose his battle to the word we all hate. That word, that disease, has robbed us of memories not yet made. We will take part in the race for life and walk for everyone, all those who have sadly lost or are loosing a loved one because of cancer. We will do it in their memory, we will do it for the heartache that has been felt, we will do it for loss and love, we will do it for them! Cancer has left empty shoes that can never be filled, it has left big holes in our hearts, holes that will be with us forever, it has it has left confusion, sadness, anger, broken hearts, grief and pain. But worst of all it has left us, the ones that are left behind who have no tomorrow with our loved ones. Who does cancer think it is? Let's put and end to its ability to take whats ours. Let's do our best to protect our children and future generations. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
