Story
This year we are taking part in Race for Life…please donate to support us! Ten years ago Race for Life was more important to me than ever to take part. My dad suddenly died at home, the night before the race. I was numb. I didn't know what to do. So I did the Race for Life in his honour. I cried all the way round. 5k is not far but long enough to think about what happened and what to do next and also what a great father I had just lost. I wish I had told him that. My mum stayed at home and was comforted by friends, family and neighbours. She lost her husband. Things were going well. Then cancer decided to mess with a happy family. She has been strong and I love her. It sounds funny and silly to say 'I love you' to my mum as for many years it just wasn't done. Everyone should say it to their parents no matter how funny or silly it sounds as one day they won't be there and you'll wish you'd said it more often. My mum 'Lady Rita' is doing the race with me this year so we can be together during this emotional time.
