We're raising as much as we can to beat cancer

Story

The world became a better place when Lynette was born. She was my best friend but she wasn’t just mine, her heart dwelled in so many others. Thats a sign of a really special person. Lynette was an exceptionally good person, but she wasn’t just good, like mediocre good, or just good enough… I don’t even think good is the right word to describe her, but if I had to use it I would say she was good, in every facet and in every fibre of her being. She was good in every cell of her body. She was good from the top of her beautiful head down to the tips of her darling toes. She was GOOD. She was so special. She thought of others above herself, without exception, always. She’d reach out and touch anyone who seemed to need a friend and gentle, kind words. She brought me so much joy, as did her family. We played board games and had so much fun together. We laughed so much together. When Eve came along she just joined in the fun and slotted straight in. I chose Lynette to be Eve’s Godmother for a reason and I watched as they’re friendship blossomed into the most beautiful and profound connection. They had a connection that was everything and more that I’d hoped for. I trusted Lynette with Eve’s life and her faith, because I knew how Lynette felt about God and I wanted someone to teach Eve and be a mentor to her, because I didn't think I was up to that challenge. Lynette was diagnosed as having cancer In February 2018. As a nurse I knew that there was no cure and I knew how long she had left before moving on into another realm. Having already lost my mum and my brother, her situation shocked and saddened me to the core. Within a year the cancer had taken her from us. She was so very brave and her faith never faulted despite her desperate situation. I can’t say I would have been so devoted. Her courage completely floored me. She amazed me constantly. Every day little things remind me of Lynette, seemingly small unimportant details that bring her memory alive and make my heart ache, for instance she introduced me to clover butter spread and then butter pack, Tesco’s own butter, and every time I use it I think of the way she used to soften the butter with a knife before spreading it. I think about Dairylea and cucumber sandwiches. She used to cut into sweet little cubes for Eve and me. Then I think about snowballs at Christmas, her favourite Christmas drink. I think about chocolate brioche freshly baked at the weekend when we stayed. Lynette was amazing and beautiful inside and out. I’m sure she still is beautiful somewhere. It has to be Heaven. She has to still be somewhere because someone that bright, that radiant and vibrant, I truly believe can never truly be gone. So my conclusion is that she is still amazing and still vibrant and still beautiful and lovely And good, but in heaven. I have to believe that. When I get there I will see her and she will make me Dairylea and cucumber sandwiches and we will hold each other and laugh and love for an eternity. Until then every time I go to Make a sandwich Ill think of my beautiful best friend, or when Eve and I play board games or when we go to church, or when I hear her favourite song I will remember her, along with so many other daily triggers of memories of her. It’s been almost 6 years since I last saw her but I think of her all day, every day, and the wonderful things she must be doing in heaven… I can’t let another anniversary go by feeling the desperate pain of her loss without doing anything. So I’m putting all of the memories and emotions into this race for life. Please sponsor myself, Eve and our friend, Alix for the race for life in aid of research to cure cancer. Thank you so much in advance, Claire, Eve & Alix Xx
